The Founders
Paul and Stephen Verhoeff joined forces in 2006, after individual successful careers in developing and operating companies. They are ideal partners, both entrepreneurs, but each bringing their own experiences and strengths to VGC.
Paul and Stephen each believe in the importance of family, community and giving back. Paul has 4 children all married and 9 grandchildren. He volunteers time with various charities and is chairman and founder of the Spartan Foundation and sits on vice chair of Opportunity International Canada. Stephen has 3 children and 2 grand-children so far. Stephen is on the Board of Casa Connor a facility for disabled children in Mexico, and actively involved with development of Opportunity International programs in Dominican Republic.
Prior to starting Advance Flooring in 2004, Paul founded several successful UniGlobe Travel franchises and other travel related businesses including Tripeze.com a national online travel company. Tripeze.com was sold to Sears Travel in 2001. Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Prior to joining Paul in 2006, Stephen was the founder and past CEO of Hemisphere GPS, a Toronto Stock Exchange listed corporation. Stephen lead the growth of Hemisphere GPS to a company that employed 350 employees. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, which he earned in 1986 from the University of Calgary.

Company Growth
After the establishment and success of our core business Advance Flooring (now Orange Room Services) in 2004, a number of other companies were created or acquired or invested in.
In 2010, they founded Canwest Flooring, a commercial flooring company led by Dave Vanegmond. Canwest Flooring operates throughout Western Canada, and specializes in property refurbishment, hospitality, commercial and multi-unit projects.
In 2015, Paul and Stephen developed Trading Post Brewing Corporation, a craft brewery and eateries in the Langley area. General Manager of Trading Post is Lance Verhoeff. Lance previously enjoyed success in commercial sales and business development. Trading Post has been successful in brewing award winning craft beer, and features “our beer and our food” at its historical Fort Langley and new Abbotsford eateries.
In 2020, Paul and Stephen approached husband-wife duo Rudy Verhoeff & Kyla Richey to start up their next project — a winery. Recently retired from professional and national team volleyball, the pair set out to bring a mindset of creating community over food and wine to their new business. ‘Valley Commons’ pays tribute to the two valleys: the Okanagan and the Fraser that are home to the vineyards and winery with the tag line of “Where We Gather” front and centre of the brand.
Stoneboat Pinot House is a heritage winery just off the prestigious Black Sage Road in the South Okanagan, acquired by the VGC in April 2021. It’s home vineyard, coined ‘The Gravelbar’ is an area of unique, extremely rocky subsoils that produce some of the best Pinot Noir's in the Okanagan. Boasting some of the oldest vines in the Valley, Stoneboat is best known for its amazing Pinot varietals and family-like hospitality.
